Sundance Part Two

Just checked out Roger Ebert’s Journal. Wow. Good information here about two documentaries dealing with primary education. One set in Kenya and the other set here in the US. Controversy! Check out the comments section. Geez! Two videos here via his journal to get you going. Awesome. A Small Act Waiting for Superman Share and Enjoy:

Out Now: Precious: Based on the novel Push by Sapphire

Well, this is not the feel good movie of the new decade. Precious is harsh to say the least. Just when you think things are starting to look up for Precious shit just gets worse. I was so angry by the shit going down in this film I couldn’t even cry. I gotta say I...

Cinemiss Predictions: Golden Globes 2010 edition

Hey there, I did not have the pleasure of seeing every film in each of these categories but I decided to place my bets based on my womanly intuition.   So here we go, a mixture of wishful thinking and drawing straws. Best Film Drama:  Avatar Best Comedy: The Hangover Best Director: James Cameron Best...

Out Now: A Serious Man

A Serious Man is another Coen brothers little gem. It took me a few days to figure out what I thought of this because like a lot of their films, it was really slow and quiet yet said so much. What resonated with me was the search for answers. Why? Why? Why is all this...

In no order though I’m leaning towards Tetro being at the top of the list! Bon Voyage 09 and HELLO 2010! May the movie industry blow our minds out of the water this year. Tetro – Effing Brilliant Mary and Max: Awesome (NOT FOR KIDS). Tears actually fell from my eyes. Please see this. Gomorrah:...

Out Now – Fantastic Mr. Fox

I was not lucky enough to be read to as a kid so I have no stinkin clue that half of these movies are based on children’s books. I guess you should start feeling bad for me now. But don’t. Really. It is not necessary. I consider myself a movie goer with an edge. The...

Out Now: Avatar 3D

Well, all I can really say is WOW!  This truly was an experience.  You must see this in 3D I really don’t understand why anyone would see it any other way.  The movie is LONG, and you feel it, but the story is engaging.   The blue people seemed really lame at first but as...

Out Now: It’s Complicated

Meryl Streep does an excellent job as usual in this romantic comedy/romp.  She is sincere, modest and funny.  Alec Baldwin as Jake, Jane’s (Streep) ex husband is hysterical.  Too bad there was not enough to keep the film from getting ridiculously schmaltzy.  Nancy Meyers wrote and directed It’s Complicated and the premise is pretty good....
